  • About Me Retired from the USDA Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station. Certified Forester, Range Conservationist, and Public Affairs Specialist. Worked on the Bridger-Teton, Beaverhead, Salmon, Gallatin, and Lewis & Clark National Forests. Served in the Northern Region Office in Missoula, and the Intermountain Region Office in Ogden. I started trapping skunks and muskrats in Bear Lake County Idaho in about 1963, and probably became most interested in migratory birds out in the marches during spring breakup. Probably my first magical moment with a bird was when I realized an American Bittern was frozen motionless about 6 feet away from the toes of my hip boots.
